Vick's NFL Comeback

So it's official: Michael Vick is back in the NFL. Slight change up though as he is on the Philadelphia Eagles instead of the Atlanta Falcons. Commissioner Roger Goodell has signed off on his reinstatement in Week 3 of the regular season, when the Eagles are set to play the Chiefs. Will he get any playing time? That's yet to be seen. I personally doubt it. And if he does, it'll probably be on little gadget plays, where he may not even get the ball; he'll just be used as a decoy.

The biggest issue however is whether or not Michael Vick will be able to gain back the abilities that made him the quarterback that he used to be. Now I'm going to go out on a limb and say that, well, Michael Vick never really had the abilities to make him an elite quarterback in the NFL. Let's look at a few stats. In each of the four seasons that he played more than half of the season as the starter, he completed less than 60% of his passes. Only one of those seasons did he even make it to 20 TD passes. His passing yardage has never crossed 3,000 yards in any of those seasons. Now he does have the legs, and the ability to scramble away from the pocket and extend plays and score touchdowns with his feet. But looking at his stats as a QUARTERBACK, I would classify him as bad/mediocre as a signal caller. Take away those legs, and he is the most useless quarterback in the league. And it should be noted that these stats are better than what they would be had he not had the ability to extend plays as much as he can. So to all the Michael Vick groupies out there, he hardly flew as a Falcon, and he probably won't even hatch as an Eagle. He'll be stuck on the ground with dogs that killed his career.

Breaking the Ice

Welcome all.

My name is Anjan Kumar Saha. I was born on December 22, 1989 to a Bengali/Indian family. Currently, I'm an undergraduate at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, studying Microbiology and Physics, with hopes of attending a top tier Medical School. I take my studies seriously, but at the same time, I do understand the meaning behind Mark Twain's words "Never let your schooling interfere with your education." One of the ways to obtain an overall education, in my opinion, is to open up discourse over intellectually stimulating topics. At this point, it should become clear as to why I am starting this blog: to express my thoughts on a diverse range of topics, including politics, current events, philosophy, science, medicine, sports, TV, music, personal anecdotes, etc. and listen to alternative opinions and thoughts.

Upon reading my posts, I urge everyone to refrain from vulgarity, personal attacks, and any sort of insensitive comment towards me and towards other bloggers. I will post my first topic of discussion soon. Until then I will leave you with a Youtube link to a song that's been stuck in my head all day. Enjoy!
